This week, we caught up with the beautiful makeup artist, Jasmin Rahman!
Jasmin originally grew up in South Jersey. She loved playing with makeup growing up but had no idea that it would one day become her career! She went to college and received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. It wasn’t until she started working in cosmetics at a department store that she realized her potential. Once she realized that she could use her talent to build a business, she pursued her passion. She has extensive training within the industry and was certified in makeup artistry from a reputable makeup school in New York.
What Jasmin loves most about makeup artistry is that every day is different. One day she might be doing a bridal shoot, the next a film, and the next a prom; it always varies!
She wants to pursue her goals in fashion and beauty and one day, become bi-coastal between LA and New York. She’d also like to maintain a private practice for her therapy clients and become a South Asian face in the media; she wants to be a positive role model for women of similar backgrounds.
“My goal is to empower women through my work and posts using the platforms I have. There aren’t many south Asian women out there talking about the body image, domestic violence, self esteem, and other issues women face that affect their wellness! I try to incorporate that into my beauty posts and advocate strongly for embracing natural inner and outer beauty!”
In her free time, Jasmin is a practicing Outpatient Therapist and a model! Although she spends most of her time working, she spends as much time with friends and family as possible. On any given Saturday night you might find her exploring a new restaurant with friends or binge-watching TV.
Jasmin’s dream date would be playing with penguins, they’re her favorite animal! She also loves anything related to Disney. We asked her if she could give some recommendations as to how women should style their hair and makeup for a first date:
“When a girl shows up over done she covers her natural beauty up but we want that to shine! I love a natural, romantic look featuring glowy skin, a cat eye and nude lips! Hair should be closer to your natural look for example my hair is typically closer to straight so I’ll keep it like that!”
Jasmin provided the photos below as examples of how women should wear their hair and makeup on a first date. Make sure to check out her work below and her website here!
For a clean date night look, try a cat eye, nude lip, glowy skin, soft contour and blush!
